Chapter 2 The Internet

Evolution of internet started with the creation of ARPANET in 1969 to allow scientist to share information and work together and keep it functioning even if part of the network destroyed. On 1984,ARPANET has more than 1 thousand invidual computer linked as host and now,millions of host connected to the internet.

To connect to internet,we need wired connection and wireless connection.Example of wired connection is Cable internet service and Digital subscriber line.For wireless connection,we can use wifi and mobile broadband.

To connect to the internet,we need IP adrees which is a sequence of numbers that identifies each devices that connected to the internet.A domain name is a text based name that corresponds to IP address.And DNS server translates the domain name into associated IP address.

There are some benefits that we can gain from using social networking,such as knowing new friends and share information but the risk is getting our information used for bad reason and getting assaulted online as well as getting our safety criticized.

Various types of websites have alot uses.First,we can use social networking website such as Facebook and Twitter to connect to alot of people and share information. Then,we can use informational websites to find information that we needed.Tehn,through media sharing and bookmarking sites,we can share our artworks such as drawing and writing to people all around the world.There are also website for news,weather,sports and other mass media that we can use to find out the newest issue in our country an other countries as well.Next is educational websites.We can use it to know more about our subjects in school so does universiti.Lastly,we use business,govermental and organizational website to manage the important task that needing internet to complete it.

There are some steps required for web publishing.First,plan the websites,Then,design the website.Next,create the website.You also have to host it after that.Lastly,maintain the website.

The web uses graphic,animation,audio,video and virtual reality to give information as well as an education and entertainment.Email,email list,chat rooms and disscusion forums are used to connect to people from far places and share information.

There are some rules of netiquette,one of it is be polite,avoid sending or posting flames,use emoticon,avoid capital letter which means shouting,use acronyms and be forgiving of other mistakes.
